My “Greenish” Thumb

So, you may be wondering where I have been since I haven’t posted in a while. Truthfully, part of that was because I got frustrated with trying to set up the layout of my blog, and the other reason is because I got my wisdom teeth out on Wednesday. So basically, I’ve been in quite a bit of pain and have been limited to the joys of mushy food, yay! All I’ve eaten really is ice cream, mashed potatoes, pudding, and the occasional mac and cheese or rice. Not too exciting. If you have any delicious soft food suggestions, PLEASE let me know!!

So today, I wanted to introduce you all to someone very special in my life right now: Roger. Who is Roger? Roger is my wonderful succulent, and I’m trying with all my might to keep him alive. My previous cactus, Jeff, had a tragic end. He beasically just flopped over and died. After Jeff’s death, I was pretty sure my future as a plant mother was doomed, but my photography teacher decided to take it upon himself and buy me a new baby to take care of.

I have been determined to take care of Roger, but as of yesterday, he wasn’t looking too happy in his little metal cup/thrown that I recieved him in. So, I found some of my mother’s potting soil and replanted him in one of my medicocre bowls I made in Freshman year potery. I also found this adorable glass spray bottle in the gardening cabinet that I will hopefully not over water him with! (I think Jeff might have been a little too watered when he died….)

Anyway, wish me, and more importantly Roger, luck on our journey together. He definetly needs to toughen up before the New England winter comes!

Do you have a succulent? Let me know in the comments how you take care of it and what it’s name is! (I love succulent names!! 🙂 )

Baby, You’re a Firework

So a couple of days ago, I decided to go to my town’s firework display. Since I don’t have my own car yet, I had to endlessly beg my mother to drive me all day. She resisted because of how late they were starting, but gave in the end.

Why did I insist on going, you might ask? I LOVE fireworks. I think they are exciting, slightly intimidating, and absolutely GORGEOUS. One day, I want to have fireworks at my wedding… I didn’t mind that I went by myself either, that’s how much I enjoy them. I had last-minute meet up plans with a friend, but when they fell through, I wasn’t bothered because it gave me an even greater chance to focus on the show, and my pictures of it.

The atmosphere was great when I arrived, it was already dark, and a little chilly, so I wore my most cozy sweatshirt. There were tons of people there, including herds of small children whose bedtimes had expired long ago. There was a hot dog stand, a man selling glow sticks, and a big group of guys playing frisbee. They also had live music going from our resident “Dad Rock Band”, who honestly are pretty kick ass. I also saw lots of people from my grade, but in typical anxious Emma fashion, I avoided them at all costs.

I arrived just in time and grabbed a spot on the hill, where my camera would easily see over people’s heads in front of me. As I was fiddling with my camera, I noticed an adorable couple in my grade cuddling on a blanket at the bottom of the hill below me, ready to have a Pinterest worthy date watching the fireworks. I couldn’t help but be totally jealous of their situation. I’m a total romantic and have been waiting for the right guy for seemingly forever (even though I haven’t even been around for two decades yet haha).

Once the show started it was breathtaking and I totally zoned out, not working anymore if the awkwardness of being alone would be noticed and judged by the people I knew. I took some awesome photos on my camera that I can’t wait for you all to see.*

What’s an event or activity that let’s you completely relax and live in the moment? Leave me a comment to tell me about it 🙂 Enjoy the photos!!

Welcome to Quite Simply Emma

Welcome to my potentially disastrous but possibly amazing blog!

I’ve decided to start a blog and honestly… I’m very nervous about it. I’ve always been awed by other’s blogs, their beautiful layouts, perfect post titles, and jaw dropping visuals. I’m not necessarily promising any of that on here, but I want to create a community where teenage girls, like me, who are anxiously trying to make it through the scariness of growing up (while trying to look good doing it lol) can connect.

I don’t really have a strict aim for what I will write about, but I’ll probably touch on college, clothes, friendships, food, photography, emotions, and really anything else about my life that might be relatable to any of you. I also have gone on some amazing school art trips abroad, so stay tuned for some pictures and stories about those adventures as well.

I can’t wait to interact with any of you who read this and will actively be checking in on the comment section, so please leave me a message, or just your thoughts on my posts. I would love to hear from you! 🙂
